W&L-Dotzek High Speed Piano Action
Starting in 1955, Mr. Dotzek gained significant experience as a piano master builder in numerous piano factories: Bechstein, Steinway & Sons, Nordiska, Euterpe/Feurich, Schiedmayer & Soehne and Kimball.
Only eleven years later he was generally aknowledged a piano action specialist at Herrburger Brooks and Langer Piano Action. At the same time, Dietrich Dotzek was the string measure master for Klaus Fenner, a close associate and long term friend.
Since 1975, Dietrich Dotzek has been active as a piano designer and piano industry consultant in Finland, USA, Brazil, Italy, Malaysia and China.
In 2001 he was elected president of the Euro-Piano Organization.
Dietrich Dotzek about its invention:
"And just no more disadvantages with unmanageable spring pressure; the feeling playing the piano was pleasant easy, in spite of one normal keys low pressure weight of 50-52 gram." (Euro-Piano Magazine)
The DFM system I developed characterizes it self through following advantages:
It functions without jack spiral spring, replaced by two mutually attracted Bremag last long magnets (F = Ferri, M=magnet).
A magnet is set at the top of the jack, the other vis-à-vis under the hammer-butt felt square. An additional Weight in the butt check (butt heel) replaces the hammer-butt spring. Finally different arrangements are offered in the action to limit the jack deflection.
Nothing stands now in the way for another revolution at the piano market!"
